Getting Back to Our First Love

There are many things that have caused us to stumble –

For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world, 1 John 2:16 NIV.

Even when we stumble, we don’t have to remain in a compromised condition. God is giving us the opportunity to be free from the stumbling block of sin – if we so choose:

Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God, Revelation 2:7.

What must we deny ourselves of so that we may follow God with a heart of righteousness?

Falling short does not mean staying in a place of unrighteousness; it means being responsible with the lives and the gift of love that God has given to us. It is then that we will emerge victorious – when we have chosen to stand, walk, and live in Christ.
