The Year of 2020

4 Nights of Reflection

In the remaining four nights of this year, I will satisfy God’s given topic, reflecting upon the blessings and lessons of the Year of 2020.

Blessings of 2020

This year, we have gained the blessing of hope. A while has passed since many have found new hope, the continuum of life creating a perpetual numbness to the insistence of change inspired in and among us. But in this year, we find common change – one that compels us to search our hearts to find places of new beginnings.

To hope means to search with anticipation for something new to help us find our way.

So, you see, hope is not lost; rather, we have gained a blessing in it. The Year of 2020 has taught us how to hope. When great change occured within, we planted a little seed in our hearts in the hope that something new would arise and find its way to us.

God has a particular way of finding us, and while The Year of 2020 has found us all somewhat unexpectedly, there is a new experience and a new peace in our hearts that God is willing to give.

Lessons of 2020

This year, we learned the lesson of not taking anything for granted. Life and its circumstances can change so suddenly, so we have learned to adjust and adapt. In this Year of 2020, we have also learned to value all that God has given to us.

We have learned to give up the expressions of our comforts and to be thankful for the blessings in today. At any moment God can change our scheduled plans, and He may choose to do things so differently than what we have imagined – something I guess we all may have already known.

In this year, we have learned to hear the Lord more deeply when He speaks – to let Him capture our attention for His intended purpose. To know what it means to truly love and to miss who and that we once held so dearly means we have also come to learn, live, and love even better if the Lord God grants us His new “tomorrows.”

These are some of the Blessings and Lessons of 2020.
