As I reflected on today’s events, I had many subjects in mind wherewith to write.
But as I sit here in the quiet peace of my home, I hear the flow of God’s rain outside, and His quiet calm resonates within.
I love to write about the rain. Why? you ask? Because it’s where God has always met us – my husband and me. It is where He has affirmed us. It’s how He speaks and confirms His Will in us. In hearing the rain and soft, rumbling thunder, I think not only of my home, but I reflect on God’s goodness to us, the success that He has made in us, the love that He has given to us, and His glory, love, and passion revealed to us.
I think of all of the growth, from where we were to where we are; I think of all the joy and happiness we’ve experienced so far; I think of the drawing close to God – and each other; I think of a life well lived.
It’s never repetitive when God brings similar reminders to your life. God often uses the familiar to communicate with us. It’s His way of confirming His voice, getting us accustomed to recognizing His presence, giving us His peace and comfort, and teaching us to know His pattern so we trust in Him. How else would we be assured that something is powerful and a useful tool to us unless we actually recognized it and began putting it into use?
That is what God does for us. He uses the familiar to reach us, to teach us, and to make an impact in our lives.
So, go ahead. Remember – write about those familiar places that you have recognized God, and be reminded of the valuable impact He’s made in you.
